Virat Kohli surpasses Suresh Raina to become all-time leading run-getter in IPL history

Virat Kohli, on Friday, surpassed Suresh Raina to become the all-time leading run-getter in the Indian Premier League. Kohli, with his sensational knock of 84 runs off 49 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders, has now as many as 5110 runs in IPL history at an average of 38.13. Whereas Chennai Super Kings’ Suresh Raina has 5086 runs under his belt. The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper roared back to form with his brilliant knock against KKR as RCB posted a mighty score of 205-3 in 20 overs.

In IPL, Kohli has four centuries and 35 half-centuries to his name and has scored his runs at a superb strike-rate of 130.62. The 30-year-old has smashed 452 boundaries and 180 sixes in IPL. After shattering records after records in international cricket for Team India, Kohli suddenly looked out of touch for his side Royal Challengers Bangalore as they suffered four consecutive defeats in the first four fixtures of IPL 2019 campaign. However, the swashbuckling batter was at his brilliant best against KKR, playing some delightful strokes and hammering the bowlers for fun.

Kohli on Friday also became the second Indian batter after Suresh Raina to score past the 8000-run mark in T20 cricket as the 30-year-old continues to shatter records after records.

Meanwhile, RCB scored 205-3 against KKR as both Kohli and de Villiers played some outrageous strokes to demolish the KKR bowling attack. Kohli whacked 84 runs whereas de Villiers scored 63 runs off 32 deliveries to power RCB to a mammoth score. A blistering cameo of 28 runs by Aussie all-rounder Marcus Stoinis came was the cherry on top for RCB.

However KKR went on to win the game thanks to Andre Russell's flourish at the end.
