Cricket South Africa (CSA) has presented the men's team captain Faf du Plessis and the women's team captain Dan Van for the best cricketer of the year award. Both these players were honored in a ceremony. With this, Du Plessis has joined the elite list of 11 players who have won this award. It includes former captains Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers, all-rounders Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis, fast bowlers Makhaya Ntini and Dale Steyn. Plessis has also received ODI Cricketer of the Year and South Africa Player of the Year awards. Wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock was awarded Test Player of the Year and middle-order batsman David Miller was given the Twenty20 International Cricketer of the Year award. Kagiso Rabada was chosen by the fans for the South African Fans Player of the Year. 
Rossi van der Dusen, who made an international debut in October last year, was given the International Newcomer of the Year award. Apart from this, the Streetwise Award for Dale Steyn, who took 439 Test wickets, was given the award.
