Flipkart owned by Walmart will launch free video service

Walmart-owned e-commerce company Flipkart is now launching a video service to keep customers engaged. The company gave this information on Monday. The company said that 'Flipkart Video' will have short films, feature films and serial episodes in Indian languages. The company is in talks with various entertainment content producers to expand its video library.  The company is trying to reach the new 200 million internet users. Flipkart Video will compete with its rival Amazon, which is already providing online video and music services to subscribers under its 'Prime' membership. However, Amazon Prime has to pay customers a fixed fee of Rs 999 annually or Rs 129 monthly, while there will be advertisements on the Flipkart video service, but this service will be available free to the users. The company will also get stiff competition from the already existing Netflix and other platforms like Hotstar, G5, Sony Liv, Alt Balaji, TVF Play and MX Player in the region. Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, "We are investing a lot in it." In addition to shopping, we want users to spend more time on the platform (on the app). We will use entertainment content to keep people on the stage. With this, we will continue to be an e-commerce platform.
