Chennai braces for more rain in next 14 hours

Life in Chennai was seen limping back to normal on Saturday as there was no heavy rain on Friday night and it did not rain in the morning. However, there were periodic showers later in the day. Heavy to moderate rains are expected in Chennai and other parts of the state over the next 14 hours

A private weather forecasting and analysis agency, has forecast heavy rain and thundershower with moderate lightning at many places over Karaikal, Puducherry, Ariyalur, Chennai, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Thiruvallur, Thiruvarur, Thoothukudi, Tiruchchirappalli, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram, Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu during next 14 hours

Rains are also expected in districts of Chittoor, Cuddapah, Nellore, and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh over the next 14 hours.

Many suburban areas of Chennai continued to remain submerged, even as the water level in various areas was slowly receding. Schools remained closed as per government orders.

The state government started 106 mobile medical camp in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts to prevent spread of diseases.

According to reports reaching here several acres of crop were submerged under rain water in Nagapattinam district.
