Energy Minister D K Suresh To Take On Yogeshwar In Polls

Energy Minister D K Suresh To Take On Yogeshwar In Polls

Bengaluru: It’s going to tough days ahead for Chennapatna MLA C P Yogeshwar who recently resigned as associate member of Congress and joined the BJP.

D K Suresh, Congress MP and younger brother of Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, is keen to take on Yogeshwar in the Assembly election, it is reliably learnt.

The DKS brothers have drawn up plans to neutralise emergence of any strong rival in their political turf of Ramanagara district.

Yogeshwar had joined BJP recently. He had accused Shivakumar of trying to finish him politically in Chennapatna as the brothers see him as an emerging threat to their political careers in the long run within the Vokkaliga community and in Ramanagara district.

“I am ready to contest from Chennapatna in the Assembly election if the party high command asks me to contest. The political scenario in the constituency is seeing big changes. I am keen for a direct fight against my rival,” Suresh said addressing party workers in Chennapatna.

Launching an attack on Yogeshwar, he said, “Yogeshwar has betrayed the party as he quit from associate membership of Congress after getting liberal grants from the Congress government for development works in the constituency in the last four years. He has embraced the communal party ahead of the Assembly election. People should not support such leaders who can change their colours any moment.”

Assuring Congress workers that he and his brother D K Shivakumar are ready to address their grievances any time, Suresh said he would visit Chennapatna every week to review development works and redress their problems.

Suresh expressed his displeasure at zilla panchayat president C P Rajesh, brother of C P Yogeshwar, as he accused Rajesh of betraying Congress by indirectly working in favour of Yogeshwar, who has now joined BJP.
