Kadapa: YS Jaganmohan started his 3000 plus kilometers walkathon—‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district at 9.47 am today, aiming to ‘reach out to masses and expose the true face of Chandrababu Naidu government.’
Attired in grey color slacks and light color shirt, the Leader of Opposition set forth from the memorial of his father – YS Rajasekhara Reddy – who too had taken out similar ‘Padayatra’ in 2003, following which he became the Chief Minister of the state.
Jaganmohan Reddy would be walking 15 km per day and holding roadside meetings to interact with people.
The main objective, according to him is to reach out to the people, expose the true face of Chandrababu Naidu government, which he says is anti-people and explain how he intends to develop the state and people. His party leaders say Jaganmohan Reddy’s first step of walkathon is also the first step for dethroning and burying TDP.
“The objective is to prepare a manifesto with opinions and suggestions from the people, so it will reflect their aspirations. It will be not a long manifesto, but a simple two-page document with things what people want the government to do for them. Unlike, Chandrababu Naidu, every promise will be kept and when we go for 2024 elections, we can proudly say we have kept every promise and seek public mandate again,” he said at the public meeting in Idupulapaya, exuding confidence that the next government will be formed by him.
Jaganmohan Reddy’s entire speech was laced with criticism of Chandrababu Naidu and his government, whom he accused of never ceasing from making efforts to remove him from politics. “But, with you- the large family, my father has left me – I will overcome those obstacles and strive to usher in a regime that reflects people’s hopes and aspirations,” he said.
Jagan in next 180 plus days will be covering 125 Assembly Constituencies and interact with 5000 points and address 125 public meetings. Slogans for Padayatra is “Ravali Jagan, Kavali Jagan’, which party leaders claim reflects people’s eagerness to see Jaganmohan Reddy as next chief minister of the state.
