Hours after Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar took oath as Maharashtra CM and Deputy CM, Congress on Saturday called it a black spot in the history of Maharashtra. Before hinting at wrongdoing in the process of government formation in the state, the grand old party said that it will this on both political and legal fronts.
While talking to media, Congress leader Ahmed Patel said, "Today was a black spot in the history of Maharashtra. Everything was done in a hushed manner and early morning. Something is wrong somewhere. Nothing can be more shameful than this."
In a stunning twist earlier in the morning, Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were sworn-in as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra in the presence of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. It was reported that after Fadnavis claimed support of several NCP MLAs and informed the Governor, who in turn requested the President to end the President's rule in the state.
Confirming that Congress has all the MLAs together and will not fall prey to horse-trading, Ahmed Patel said, "All Congress MLAs are present here except two who are right now in their village, but they too are with us."
He went on to add that all the three parties - Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress - are united in the ongoing political situation in Maharashtra and expressed confidence that they together will defeat BJP in the trust vote in the state Assembly.
