Kochi: Actor Dileep, who is now out on bail in the case of abduction and sexual assault of a Malayalam actress was questioned by the Kerala police again on Wednesday.
A team led by CI Byju Paulose has been questioning Dileep since 10 am at the Aluva Police Club near here.
According to the officers, the interrogation is being conducted at a time when the special investigation team (SIT) is all set to file a fresh charge sheet before the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
Officers further said that the investigators’ move is to verify the actor’s statement that he had not been aware of the incident on February 17 night as he was admitted in a private hospital in Aluva due to fever from 7.15 am on February 14 to February 21.
Officers added Dileep submitted a forged hospital case sheet to prove his case.
However, the investigators found Dileep had attended an AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) meeting at DH Ground here on February 20 to express solidarity with the victim. Besides, he had returned to the shooting location on February 21.
Dileep harboured a personal grudge against the victim and also attempted to have her sidelined from the film world since 2014, police said. The investigators are looking to arraign Dileep as first accused in the case as Pulsur Suni, who abducted and assaulted her, had no previous enmity towards the victim.
Hence, the ultimate gain obviously goes to the one who conspired and hired him to commit the heinous crime, police said.
The motive behind the conspiracy, according to the police report, is Dileep’s belief that his family life was wrecked by the victim (in the actor assault case) as she had purportedly passed on unnecessary details about him and his activities to his then-wife Manju Warrier.
