London: London’s transport regulator has decided not to renew the licence of the US-based cab aggregator Uber for safety reasons, authorities said today.
The ride-hailing company’s licence to operate in the British capital will expire on September 30.
Uber will not be issued a new private hire licence, Transport for London (TfL) said today, BBC reported.
Uber’s approach and conduct demonstrated a lack of corporate responsibility which could have potential public safety and security implications, the report quoted TfL as saying.
The company, however, has three weeks to appeal, during which it can continue to operate.
In a statement, Uber said that it would appeal to keep licence for London.
