Bengaluru Woman Accuses Yeshwantpur Sub-Division ACP Of Sexual Misconduct

Bengaluru Woman Accuses Yeshwantpur Sub-Division ACP Of Sexual Misconduct

(Online Desk)

A woman has lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner, alleging that ACP Ravi Prasad of Yeshwantpur sub-division, misbehaved with her. The ACP has denied the allegations, claiming that she has done this to put pressure on police to take her side in a dispute.

On Saturday, the woman, who works in a private firm, approached commissioner Suneel Kumar and filed a complaint against ACP Ravi Prasad of Yeshwanthpur sub-division. In the 4-page complaint, she states she had gone to the ACP to enquire about the progress in the investigation of a complaint she had filed earlier. The earlier complaint alleged she was molested and assaulted by two men.

The woman has claimed that while taking her statement, the ACP asked her to reveal her private parts on the pretext of investigation. When she objected to this, the Soladevanahalli police station Inspector Venkatesh Gowda, who was present, shouted at her, “He is a senior officer and you have to follow his instructions.”

The woman had initially approached DCP (North) Chetan Singh Rathore to complain against ACP Prasad but was directed by the DCP to complain to the commissioner.

ACP Prasad denied all the allegations. “When she came to the station to file her complaint, I asked her what had happened, that is all. Whatever else she claims is untrue. As we did not take any action against the person she accused, she is doing this to put pressure on us,” he said. He added that a dispute has been brewing between two groups — a trust formed by Hanumanthrayappa and another trust of which the woman is a part. He claimed she only lodged the complaint of molestation against Hanumanthrayappa on November 17.

“I carried out the enquiry in front of two policewomen at the Soladevanahalli Police Station, and not in my office. I have only asked her what is relevant and have only asked her about the issue,” he added.

The woman, a resident of Hesarghatta, had filed a complaint earlier at Soladevanahalli police station that she was molested and assaulted by two persons — Hanumanthrayappa and Ravi — two months ago. She has alleged they did this as revenge after she was elected the office bearer at their expense in a trust.

She has stated in her complaint to the commissioner that even after her complaint, the investigation did not proceed for long, which was why she approached Inspector Gowda, who directed her to the ACP. The complaint states the ACP misbehaved with her on November 18.
