For Usig Ganja, 20 Students Of Kakatiya Medical College In T-State’s Warangal Suspended

Warangal: After two students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal were caught selling drugs by police, it was the turn of prestigious Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) students to face the music for a similar act.

As many as 20 second year MBBS students of KMC were placed under temporary suspension for allegedly consuming marijuana during their friend’s birthday party in the college hostel.

According to sources, the students had consumed ganja and didn’t attend their classes next day. Later, the warden was informed that they were in the freshers’ block of the hostel.

When he visited the room, students were lying in an inebriated condition. Then, the warden and other staff even took videos of the entire situation and informed the principal who visited the spot after a while.

However, the college principal Dr Chandrasekhar claimed that they had not found any traces of ganja from neither the site nor from the students’ possession.

“I personally visited the hostel room where the birthday party was going on and I did not come across any traces of ganja being used or kept. The students were in an inebriated condition and were making noises” he claimed.

Their actions were disturbing to the first year students as they were celebrating the birthday party in the freshers’ block. “We have constituted a three-member committee to look into the issue. We have also issued show cause notices to the students involved in the incident and have asked them to bring their parents by December 4. The committee report would be submitted during the parents meeting on December 5. Stringent action would be initiated against those found guilty, he added.

The principal further said the college authorities would now increase vigilance in the college hostels to check such activities in future.
