Kolkata, With four more deaths during the past 24 hours, the death count from Covid-19 shot up to 7 in West Bengal on Thursday, as 16 more persons tested positive for the coronavirus infection taking the disease tally to 53, the state Health Department said.
Three persons have so far been cured in the state from the deadly disease, which has created global havoc by taking over 48,000 lives till date.
"Four more persons expired over the last 24 hours. The death figure now stands at 7. There were 16 positive cases in the last 24 hours, and the total number of infected has now gone up to 53," the Health Department spokesman told the media.
The total number of people in hospital isolation with suspected symptoms of Coronavirus infection now is 298, of whom 137 were admitted in the past 24 hours.
Altogether 763 people have been tested for the infection so far, and 104 of the samples were collected in the last 24 hours.
"We received 133 results in the last 24 hours, of them 117 were negative. So far, 738 people have been tested," he said.
