507 FIRs lodged against lockdown violators in G.B. Nagar: Police

New Delhi, Police Commissioner Gautambudh Nagar Alok Singh said on Saturday that lockdown compliance is being strictly ensured in Gautam Buddh Nagar and stern action is being taken in case of any violation.

Singh said that till April 3, 33,426 vehicles had been screened, while challans have been issued against 4,740 vehicles and 373 vehicles have been seized.

He said 507 FIRs have been registered against lockdown violators and 289 people rounded up for flouting the prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Gautam Buddh Nagar. "So far, Rs 85,200 have been recovered as penalty. Three complaints have also been registered under the Essential Commodities Act and three persons have been arrested," he added.

He said district borders have been sealed and 132 barriers have been put up across the district. Only those related to essential services are allowed to move. He appealed to the residents to strictly follow the lockdown and not go out unless it is very important. "If it is necessary to go out, follow social distancing", he said.

Singh said continuous patrolling in being done through deployment of security forces. In sensitive and densely populated areas, drones have been deployed for monitoring.
