Mohali: India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma scored a swashbuckling double century as India piled up a massive 392 runs losing 4 wickets in the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Mohali.
Asked to bat after Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera won the toss, Rohit and Dhawan put on a century partnership before the latter fell after scoring 68 runs. Rohit then continued his form as he and Shreyas Iyer ripped through the Sri Lankan bowling. The pair were involved in a 213-run partnership before Shreyas Iyer got out scoring 88 runs.
Rohit scored his double century in the final over and ended the match unbeaten at 208.
For the Sri Lankans. Thisara Perera picked up 3 wickets but ending giving 80 runs in his 8 overs. Sachith Pathirana picked up the other Indian wicket.
For India, Tamil Nadu offspin-bowling allrounder Washington Sundar received his maiden ODI cap. He replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged side.
