Jaipur, A total of 47 new coronavirus cases have been reported in Rajasthan on Sunday taking the total tally to 253 in the state, confirmed health officials.
Jaipur on Sunday registered record 39 patients, while Jhunjhunu, Nagaur and Tonk reported one case each, Dausa had two new cases and while 3 evacuees from Iran took the total number to 47 on Sunday, said Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh.
The total number of patients till Saturday night were 206 which within 24 hours shot up to 253, he added.
Jaipur has emerged as a new hotspot with 92 patients, followed by Bhilwara with 27 patients, Tonk and Jhunjhunu with 18 each, Jodhpur has 17, Churu has 10, Ajmer, Bharatpur and Alwar 5 five each, Bikaner has four, Dausa, Dungarpur has three each, Dholpur has one, Karauli, Pali and Sikar has one each, Udaipur has four, Pratapgarh has two and Nagaur has one, he said.
Nagaur became the 21st district of the state to have reported the first corona positive patient on Sunday.
Till date, a total of 12,279 samples have been tested in the state which is second highest after Kerala in the country, said state health minister Dr Raghu Sharma.
Out of these, 11,439 samples tested negative while 253 have tested positive and 587 samples are under process. Out of 1,057 samples of evacuees from Iran who landed at Jodhpur, 31 have tested positive.
Meanwhile, 37 have tested negative from positive and 32 patients have been discharged from hospital, Sharma added.
Isolation wards have 357 patients as of now, 5.7 crore people have been screened till date after surveying 1.18 crore houses, 13 lakh people have been given Ayurvedic ‘kadha' till date, he said adding "that the testing process shall speed up soon after we get rapid testing kits. ICMR has authorised 12 companies to make Rapid testing kits which shall be available soon. We shall go with random sampling to check the corona spread with it."
