Panaji, Seven of the 563 sample tested for coronavirus so far by the Goa Directorate of Health Services have tested positive, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Monday.
Rane said that 2,000 rapid testing kits had been acquired by the state, which would provide results in an hour.
"All measures are being taken to curb COVID-19 in Goa. We are united to fight the menace," Rane told reporters.
Nearly 2,000 persons are quarantined at their respective homes or in government-run isolation facilities in Goa.
"The Health Department in collaboration with Goa company MolbioDx has procured five machines and 2,000 'Truenat' rapid testing kits, a one-of-a-kind PCR-based diagnostic kit, which will give results in one hour," Rane added.
The Minister said that self-help groups had been assigned the task of stitching face masks, which will be distributed to health personnel.
