Kolkata, A 60-year old retired school teacher died after he slipped and fell from the roof of his single-storied house while playing badminton to stave off the boredom of the lockdown in West Bengal's Bankura district, the police said on Friday.
Dulal Chandra Dey, who recently retired as the games teacher of a district school, died at a state-run hospital in Bishnupur on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said Dey was playing badminton with his wife and son when during a moment of indiscretion he went to the edge of the roof while retrieving a shot, lost his balance and slipped. As he fell on the ground, the neighbours rushed him to the hospital.
But he died on Thursday night. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
An officer of Bishnupur police station said though apparently it seemed a case of accident, all angles are being looked into in the case.
