Gandhinagar, Gujarat saw the highest number of coronavirus positive cases in a single day as 517 more persons were found positive on Saturday, taking the total cases to 23,079. Corona claimed 33 more lives in the state, taking its deaths toll to 1,449. Ahmedabad's total cases climbed up to 16,306. As many as 366 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals on Saturday. There are 5,739 active cases in Gujarat, of which 5,678 patients are stable, whereas 61 critical patients are still on ventilators. On Saturday, health authorities carried out 5,487 RT-PCR tests, of which 517 tested positive. The earlier record was 513 cases on Thursday. Although the number of positive cases being detected from Ahmedabad are gradually coming down from around 80 per cent to under 70 per cent nowadays, the total cases detected with each passing day seems to be going up. The figure of 500 cases being reported is gradually becoming common. More and more positive cases are being detected in Surat, Gandhinagar and less commutable areas like Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli. Out of the 517 new cases, 344 were reported from Ahmedabad (66.53%), followed by Surat 59, Vadodara 40, Gandhinagar 9, Bhavnagar 7, Mahesana 6, Aravalli, Panchmahals and Narmada 5 each, Kutch and Bharuch 4 each, Rajkot, Patan and Amreli 3 each, Kheda and Banaskantha 2 each, Mahisagar, Anand, Botad, Gir-Somnath, Surendranagar, Junagadh, Chhota Udepur one each. A patient was from another state. Saturday's 33 deaths included highest 26 in Ahmedabad. Three patients from Surat, two patients from Amreli and one patient each from Bhavnagar and Patan succumbed to the virus. Despite the share of corona cases from Ahmedabad having come down to 70.65 per cent, the death toll rate in the city remained the same -- around 81 per cent of the total toll (80.40%). A total of 408 people of the total 1,449 have succumbed to the virus during June. Till date, of the total deaths, 1,165 were in Ahmedabad alone, followed by 96 in Surat, 45 in Vadodara, 21 in Gandhinagar, 13 each in Bhavnagar and Panchmahals, 12 each in Aravalli and Anand, 10 in Patan and 8 each in Mahesana and Banaskantha. On Saturday, 390 patients were discharged. Till now, 15,891 patients have been discharged in the state. Of the total cases, Ahmedabad leads with 16,306, followed by Surat 2,503, Vadodara 1,516, Gandhinagar 459, Mahesana 183, Bhavnagar 166, Banaskantha 150, Rajkot 148, Sabarkantha 135, Aravalli 138, Anand 125, Panchmahals 118, Mahisagar 117, Patan 112, Kheda and Kutch with 103 each, Bharuch 78, Jamnagar 73, Surendranagar 66, Botad 65, Valsad 57 and Gir-Somnath 50 cases. Of the 2,83,623 RT-PCR tests in the state, 260,544 were found negative. As many as 2,11,867 persons are quarantined, including 2,05,511 at home and 6,356 in government facilities.
