Kolkata, An East Bengal fan club has distributed 2,500 kg of relief material, including food supplies and medicines, to those affected by Cyclone Amphan in south Bengal district Sundarbans.
EAST BENGAL the REAL POWER (EBRP) said in a statement that its target of distributing relief material to 100 families had been achieved.
The group said it handed over bleaching powder and lime to area governing body to help rejuvenate local water bodies.
It also conducted day-long medical camps and distributed medicines to almost 200 people as well as distributed educational material to around 200 students in local schools.
"As the whole of West Bengal stands united in this fight to rebuild the state, we at EBRP decided to join the campaign too in our own way," the statement said.
"Keeping in mind the tradition of EBRP to stand tall and deliver its best in various social responsibilities, we have devoted ourselves in the quest to rebuild Bengal with our very own campaign named as "Ctrl + Z Bengal".
The campaign was initiated on May 24 by collecting funds from East Bengal supporters around the globe. The fund collection closed on June 10 midnight," it added.
"In collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur, we arranged a two-day community kitchen on June 4 and 5 in Garankoti village of Kultali block, South 24 Parganas. A total of 2,000 food packets were provided to 500 Amphan-affected persons."
The severe cyclonic storm battered a large part of south Bengal districts, including Sundarbans, on May 20.
