DMK to take TN govt to court over Covid-19 spread

Chennai, The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M K Stalin on Monday said the party will approach court if the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government does not focus on the issue of coronavirus spread in the state.

Stalin also sought answers from Tamil Nadu chief minister K Palaniswami for rising Covid-19 cases in the state amid other issues.

Listing out various omissions by the state government in controlling the spread of coronavirus, Stalin said the party would approach the court if the government does not focus on the issues and find a solution for preventing the virus spread.

Speaking to reporters online, Stalin said the chief minister should provide an answer to the five questions which the people are asking the government.
Stalin said if it is true there is no community spread of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu then the chief minister should give the answer to rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

As on Sunday, the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state stood at 44,661.

Stalin also asked Palaniswami when the government will announce its plan to flatten the rising Covid-19 cases in the state and in Chennai.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Stalin said several committees were appointed during the lockdown period and none of the committee reports has been made public.
Stalin also asked why the government is refusing to speak with the opposition parties, experts and concerned persons from the start on the issue.
Finally he also asked when the government is going to focus on reviving the economy, unemployment and changes to be made in the state budget.
