Gandhinagar On the request of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, a four-member central team of senior health officials will arrive on a two-day visit of Ahmedabad and Surat on Thursday to review the Covid-19 situation and guide the state government.

Rupani had sought the central government's help to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

Even though the spread of Covid-19 in the hotspot Ahmedabad had been contained, there has been a big rise in number of cases across the state. The situation is grim in Surat as well.

The central team comprises NITI Ayog member Vinod Pal, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Balram Bhargava, Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Randeep Guleria and Additional Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Ministry Aarti Ahuja.
