New Delhi: BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta today asked the AAP government to constitute a state food commission, saying that the delay in the formation of the statutory body was denying the right to food to the people.
Gupta said he will raise the matter in the coming session of the Assembly next month.
Functioning of a an effective State Food Commission is essential as stipulated by the National Food Security Act, 2013, he said.
“General public, the beneficiaries of mid-day meal scheme, integrated child development scheme (ICDS) and those involved in public distribution system have been denied their rights to take up any issue or grievances related to food and food standards in the city,” he alleged.
