Hyderabad: The controversial Bollywood film "Padmaavat", which has faced violent protests in many parts of the country, had a smooth release in Hyderabad today.

A police official from the East Zone of Hyderabad, under whose jurisdiction four cinema halls are situated, said no protests were reported.

Police had made security arrangements at the theatres screening the film.
