Bengaluru, Karnataka has registered 5,536 new Covid positive cases, raising the state's tally to 1,07,001, even as 102 more patients succumbed to the virus with the toll breaching the 2,000 mark, said an official on Tuesday.
As many as 102 patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, increasing the southern state's toll to 2,055.
"New cases reported from Monday 5 p.m. to Tuesday 5 p.m., 5,536," said a health official.
Bengaluru Urban continues to be the epicentre of infections in the state, accounting for 1,898 new, resulting in the total number of cases rising to 48,821, out of which 35,102 are active.
Similarly, cases also spiked in Ballari with 452 infections.
Among the new cases in other places, Kalaburagi accounted for 283, followed by Belagavi (228), Mysuru (220), Tumkur (207), Kolar (174) and Dakshina Kannada (173) among others.
Meanwhile, a record number of 2,819 patients have been discharged, lifting the total number of discharges to 40,504.
Of the 1.07 lakh cases, 64,434 are active.
