New Delhi, A Delhi police Inspector with the Police Control Room (PCR) of South Zone, suffering from Covid-19 succumbed to the infection on Tuesday morning.
He is the 16th Delhi Police personnel to succumb to coronavirus.
Inspector Sanjay Sharma of 1997 batch was admitted to Indian Spinal injuries centre at Vasant Kunj on August 15 with complications of pneumonia. However, he was tested positive for coronavirus later.
"He was a brilliant officer and was posted at important positions in Delhi police. He was a resident of Kota, Rajasthan," said a senior police officer.
His batch mates remember him as a person full of life and enthusiasm.
"He lost battle to Covid in just three days. I remember him as a bright police officer and a very helpful man who was full of positive energy," said SHO RK Puram Rajesh Sharma who was his batchmate.
In July, a 40-year-old Delhi Police constable who was undergoing treatment for liver related complications at a hospital here had passed away, 12 days after testing positive for Covid-19.
So far, around 2,000 Delhi Police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19. Of them, 1,300 have resumed duty after recoveries.
