Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today directed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ministers Ashok Gajapathi Raju and YS Chowdary to resign as Union cabinet ministers.

The decision comes after Arun Jaitley announced that Andhra Pradesh will not be given Special Status but will only be given a special package of funds.

"his is the first step. We will go ahead with other actions later. Arun Jaitley's statement was the last straw. They are apparently predetermined. They don't appear to help the state," said Naidu.

"Tried speaking to the Prime Minister as a courtesy to inform about our decision to quit but he did not come on the line, he added.
