TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday called for a politburo meeting Friday to take a decision on exiting the NDA.
"If necessary, we will support the no-confidence motion against the Centre, whoever may place it," Naidu said in the state Assembly on Thursday.
Earlier, YSR Congress Party MP YV Subba Reddy met leaders of different political parties, including Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge and CPI(M)'s Sitaram Yechury. Subba Reddy gave the party president Jaganmohan Reddy's letter seeking their support for the no-confidence motion to be moved by YSRCP in Lok Sabha on Friday.
The letter written by Jaganmohan Reddy stated, "If even after this no-confidence motion, central government is reluctant to grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh, all our party MPs will tender resignation to their seats on 6 April."
