Several Dalit organisations in the country have called for a Bharat Bandh against the Supreme Court’s order diluting the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

In addition, the Union Government has decided to file a review petition before the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging its order banning automatic arrest and registration of cases for alleged harassment of SCs and STs.

Protestors got thrashed by police in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, while a scuffle between protestors and Police in Jharkhand's Ranchi lead to several people receiving injuries.

In fact, Punjab, which has the highest SC population in the country, has been put on high alert. Schools, colleges, universities and banks will remain closed. Mobile internet service has been suspended

In Rajasthan, protesters turned violent at Barmer, cars and property was reported damaged.

Different groups including CPIML activists protest in Bihar's Arrah and tried to block a train.

Similarly, some protesters desperately tried to stop a train in Amritsar district in Punjab. However, they relented after talks with railway officials.

The CBSE Class 10, 12 Board exams have been postponed in Punjab due to the Bharat Bandh.
