Congress on Sunday announced 218 candidates for the 12 May Assembly elections, withholding names for remaining six seats of the 224-member House.This prompted followers of those leaders who did not receive tickets to protest.
Protests took place in Mandya,Nelmnagala,Mangaluru, Hangal, Mayakonda, Jagalur, Tiptur, Kunigal, Kolar, Kollegal, Belur, Badami, Kittur and many other constituencies,with a party office being vandalized in Mandya:

Many of the rebels are now expected to contest as Independents.
