There have been allegations of TMC works resorting to violence to prevent candidates from other parties from filing their nominations, due to which the Calcutta high court had to intervene and then ask the Government to provide and extension date for candidates to file their nominations.

This violence has affected common people and journalists too, like in this case. Even Congress and CPM have joined in the BJP in alleging the TMC of using goons to disrupt the electoral process.
