Dudhli village to turn digital

Dudhli village to turn digital

In what is believed to be a news of pride for the hill state, Dudhli village in Uttarakhand is all set to become 1st gram panchayat to be fully Wi-Fi enabled under Centre's Digital India scheme. Locals say that this is a great initiative by the government and expressed happiness that their village will become digital.

Reports inform that the work is in full swing at the village in Doiwala.  It must be noted that Doiwala is Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s constituency.  Optical fibre cables are being laid and utility poles are being installed. The work is expected to finish by the end of the month.

According to a report by TOI, the initiative of turning Dudhli digital was taken by RTI activist Ajay Kumar. Kumar had written to the Prime Minister’s Office in 2016, demanding internet connectivity in the village. The PMO had taken note and assured that the village would get internet facilities.

The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.  The scheme ensures that Government services are made available to citizens electronically through improved online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or by making the country digitally empowered in the field of technology.
