Stones Pelted at School Bus in J&K's Shopian; Two Injured, One Student Critical

Two students were injured as stone pelters targeted a private school bus in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The stone pelting incident happened near Kanipora. One student is said to be critical. The Class 2 student is being treated at Sri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital in Srinagar. The police said the student received injuries in his head.

“My son has been injured in stone pelting, this is against humanity. This could have been anyone’s child,” Father of the minor who got injured in stone pelting on a school bus in Kanipora said while speaking to news agency ANI:

 

Meanwhile, condemning the stone pelting on the school bus, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Shocked & angered to hear of the attack on a school bus in Shopian. The perpetrators of this senseless & cowardly act will be brought to justice.”

On the other hand, former CM and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah questioned the agenda of stone pelters and tweeted, “How does pelting stones on school children or tourist buses help advance the agenda of these stone pelters? These attacks deserve our unequivocal condemnation & this tweet is mine.”

In another incident, seven tourists were injured when stone-pelters targeted passing vehicles in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday evening.

As per the officials, a group of youngsters pelted stones at vehicles carrying both local residents and tourists at Ashmuqam area of Pahalgam around 8 pm. The injured were part of a group of 47 tourists travelling in four vans.
