Gear up For Staying in Power For Next 50 Years: Amit Shah Tells BJP Working Committee

In the first-ever joint meeting of seven wings of the national working committee of the BJP on Thursday, party chief Amit Shah exhorted party workers to aim for a clean sweep in the 2019 general elections. He said that the Centre was trying to improve the standard of living by being in direct touch with 25 crore people.  Now meeting them by holding door-to-door campaigns was up to the members of the committee. He said the sole purpose of ensuring that the BJP came back to power in 2019 as well was to transform the country into a global leader. “That can only be achieved if the BJP is everywhere; from the panchayat to the Parliament. For that, all of us need to work. The BJP is a party of one ideology.”

He said party workers needed to propagate the government’s achievements to the public so that the party returns to power with a bigger mandate than that of 2014. Congratulating the party on the Karnataka election verdict, Shah said it wasn’t about 2019 or 2024, “We need to make a place for ourselves for a long time to come. We have to work towards being in power for the next 50 years and for that our organisation should be strong.”

Shah said the party workers would have to visit the electorate and ensure that from each house they visited, one ‘missed call’ was made to the party office. This would immediately tell the party office which all houses were visited; party workers could also send WhatsApp location to party functionaries, he said.  He said the workers should try to get more and more people to download the NaMo app and bring more and more people to the voting booth. All the party wings have to complete the allocated work within the given time, he said. In the evening, PM Modi would be addressing the meeting.
