BSP Likely to Project Mayawati as PM Candidate For 2019

BSP Likely to Project Mayawati as PM Candidate For 2019

The Bahujan Samaj Party‘s (BSP) national executive meeting which is being held today, is likely to project Mayawati as BSP’s prime ministerial candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The BSP is also likely to evaluate the pre-poll alliance with Congress in the poll-bound states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and likewise announce Mayawati as the PM candidate, said a BSP leader.

One of the BSP leaders said, “She is the tallest Dalit leader with a pan-India appeal. Her projection as the PM candidate will mobilize the Dalit community in support of the alliance.” It must be noted that in the year 2009 during the Lok Sabha elections, Mayawati had been projected as a prime ministerial candidate. The BSP chief was recently seen in Karnataka attending the swearing-in ceremony of state Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and was seen rubbing shoulders with Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. She was also seen talking amicably with other leaders of the Opposition- Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee among others. It is being said by the party that BSP still has people’s support and hence it would be fielding BSP supremo as its prime ministerial candidate.

With regard to announcing Mayawati as the prime ministerial candidate for 2019 elections, the BSP has been taking small steps in this direction. BSP has been trying to capture the people’s mandate not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in other state elections and the recent one is in Karnataka, where it won a seat as well. The Opposition is coming together to put an end to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) power in the upcoming elections and Mayawati being projected as the prime ministerial candidate is being seen as something important.

Meanwhile speaking at BSP’s national executive meeting today, BSP chief said the Modi government had failed on all fronts and also took a dig on the four years of Modi government which is being celebrated today by speaking about the rising fuel prices.
