An audio clip of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa telling her doctor that 140/80 blood pressure was normal for her has been made public by the commission investigating her death. In the recording the late Tamil Nadu CM, who died on December 5, 2016 can be heard complaining about her breathlessness. “I’m feeling breathless like a crazy fan sitting in the front seat of a theatre and whistling,” according to the audio tapes, which were recorded 68 days before her death.
Then she asked,”What is my blood pressure?” To which the doctor replied, “140/80. It is quite high.” “Its okay for me normal,” Jayalalithaa allegedly replied to the doctor.
At the beginning of the 1.07 minute audio, which has beep sounds of the monitors, she coughs and says she can hear a sound, (to denote her breathing difficulty) and it was similar to whistles made by fans in cinema houses.
In another 33-second audio, which is connected to the other recording, Dr Sivakumar tells Jayalalithaa, who is breathing heavily, that he is recording the wheezing and it was not “very intense now.” Coughing, she tells him “when it (wheezing) was there, I told you, you said it (application) could not be taken (downloaded).”
The doctor says in between that he has downloaded the application (app/to record her wheezing).
The Justice A. Arumugasamy Commission has put out in public-domain a diet and medical chart of the former Tamil Nadu CM as submitted to it by her personal physician Dr KS Sivakumar. The chart has in-depth information of her diet, blood pressure and sugar levels as jotted down on August 2, 2016, which is before her hospitalisation.
The health chart suggests Jayalalithaa had subsisted on Idli, breads, coffee, green tea and biscuits.
On January 12, the hospital, where the late AIADMK supremo was being treated during her illness two years ago, submitted treatment documents of the same to an inquiry commission, which was set up to probe her death.
Following her death, suspicion over the circumstances leading to her demise was raised by several persons, including Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and his followers. The Tamil Nadu government appointed a commission under Justice A Arumughaswamy to probe her death. Jayalalithaa was admitted at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai for a long time before she breathed her last on December 5, 2016.
