The ‘Ramayana’ theme has been designed by the Indonesian organisers while the ‘Mahabharata’ theme is designed by their Indian counterparts. PM Modi arrived Jakarta as the first leg of his five-day, three-nation tour to Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. He discussed several issues in a meeting with Joko Widodo to strengthen the ties between both the countries.
In a joint press conference, PM Modi said that India’s Act East Policy and the vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for all in the Region) and President Widodo’s Maritime Fulcrum Policy share the same objectives. “India and Indonesia will double their efforts to take bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2025,” he said. India and Indonesia signed 15 agreements to cooperate in the fields of defence, space, science and technology, railways and health.
PM Modi also condemned the terror strikes on three churches of Indonesia’s second-largest city Surabaya. He said India stands shoulder to shoulder with Indonesia in the war on terror.
