Republic TV raises question on investigation of BJP Dalit worker's murder in Bengal

Republic TV raises question on investigation of BJP Dalit worker's murder in Bengal

HERE ARE THE LAPSES IN THE PROBE UNEARTHED BY REPUBLIC TV:

  • Republic TV’s investigation revealed that an FIR in the case, registered by Trilochan’s brother was only filed after the BJP party’s office intervened. After the intervention, FIR under sections 364 (Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 302(Punishment for murder.—Whoever commits murder shall be punished with death, or 1[imprisonment for life], and shall also be liable to fine), 120(B) 1[120B.
  • Meanwhile, the six TMC workers who were named as suspects are absconding. Furthermore, when the FIR Was lodged on Wednesday, these six people were in the village but the cops did not question them.
  • Even as there are 6 suspects in the case, the case have been lodged against ‘unknown’ people.
  • Even as more than 48 hours have passed since the lodging of the FIR, the matter has not moved forward and is still stuck to the primary investigation.
  • Except for the handwritten note, the police have failed to recover any other piece of evidence in the case.
  • Trilochan’s family has claimed that prior to the incident, he had received death threats. The cops, however, are still silent on the claims.
  • When Republic TV visited the village, the cops were absent from duty and even from the village.

Now, even as the family of Trilochan has been demanding CBI probe in the matter, the loopholes in the case hint at a deliberate attempt on the part of the authorities and the Mamata Banerjee-led state government to cover up the case.

Meanwhile, Republic TV also spoke to Union Minister for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, who said that he will take up Trilochan Mahato’s death case with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state DGP.

Earlier on Wednesday, Trilochan's body was found hanging from a tree in West Bengal's Purulia district. The deceased boy has been identified as Trilochan Mahato and was found hanging with his trousers still on.

Scribbled on the back and front of his white colour T-Shirt was a shocking message. There was another horrifying note that was found on a piece of paper which was left at his feet dangling just inches from the ground.

Roughly translated the horrific message said,"This is for doing BJP politics from age 18. Been trying to kill you since the vote. Failed. Today your life ends".
