Kolkata student "stripped naked, filmed" inside a college room

In a shocking incident, a student on Saturday claimed that he was "stripped naked" and "filmed" too inside a room at a college in Kolkata. West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had on Sunday vowed to take a "strict action" against the perpetrators of the act. The video of the incident has gone viral on the social media.

The incident took place at St Paul's Cathedral College situated on Kolkata's Amherst Street and the clip showed the student pleading for mercy. He was, however, pushed to undress in front of some people. The first-year student had sent a written complaint to Chatterjee on the matter. He further claimed to be a member of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) unit of St Paul's Cathedral College.

On Saturday, the student had alleged that senior members of the students' wing tortured him on May 17 when he asked them about the amount spent for arranging a forthcoming college’s fest. Responding to this, Chatterjee told the media yesterday: “If the allegations were found to be true in the inquiry report of the college, the government will show 'zero tolerance' to such misconduct.”

In the meantime, TMCP state president Jaya Dutta said she will discuss the matter with the college authorities as well as TMCP members belonging to North Kolkata unit. The only, she will be in a better situation to take a call on the issue.

If its members were found guilty, the union would take necessary action against them, said Dutta.
