BJP disciplinary committee slammed MLA Gagan Bhagat from RS Pura after his inappropriate images with a girl appeared in a section of the press. Bhagat was accused of having an extra-marital affair in a strongly worded letter written by the disciplinary committee chairman Sunil Sethi. The letter said the allegations against Bhagat are “serious” and will be investigated by the party.
The committee which was reconstituted by the BJP's Jammu unit on July 1 admonished Bhagat for tarnishing the image of the party with his actions. “You may appreciate that for a public figure like you holding important representative position, such allegations are destructive. Beside you as leader of Bhartiya Janata Party is expected to lead public by personal example,” the disciplinary committee told Bhagat.
Bhagat was told if allegations against him are proven an appropriate action will be taken in the matter. The BJP RS Pura MLA was asked to appear at the party headquarters in Jammu’s Trikuta Nagar with all the evidence in his support on July 12.
“Your pics have also been published in the press with the said lady and her family had initiated action against you. This has tarnished the image of the party in the eyes of the public”, said the disciplinary committee in a strongly worded letter to Bhagat.
It is not clear at this point if the case is related to a case filed against Bhagat on June 25 in which an ex-serviceman accused the BJP legislator of kidnapping his daughter in Jammu. The allegation was however quickly refuted by the said girl and dubbed the allegation as an attempt to defame him. The girl alleged that she was being forced by her family to marry against her will.
