Ram Madhav says BJP for continuing Governor's rule in J&K, no talks with rebel PDP MLAs

Ram Madhav says BJP for continuing Governor's rule in J&K, no talks with rebel PDP MLAs

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday dismissed the reports of forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir with the rebel People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s MLAs. He has also denied reports of the party talking to these rebel MLAs and said the BJP supports the Governor’s rule in the state and wants it to continue for the sake of peace.

Madhav comments came in the backdrop of a tweet put out by the former chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah. Abdullah, in his tweet, claimed that several PDP MLAs were in “touch with BJP high command”, which is “contrary” Ram Madhav’s “assertions the state unit of the BJP confesses to being party to the efforts to break the” PDP.

“Contrary to @rammadhavbjp assertions the state unit of the BJP confesses to being party to the efforts to break the @jkpdp. Power at any cost would seem to be the guiding philosophy. (sic),” read former chief minister’s tweet.  Madhav replied to the comment on Twitter, saying the reports were “not true”.

“I will certainly check with the state unit and ensure that BJP keeps itself scrupulously out of whatever is happening in other parties in the Valley (sic),” read Madhav’s tweet. He also said,"We are for continuing with the Governor's rule in the interest of peace, governance and development in the state." Last month, the BJP pulled out of the alliance with Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP in Jammu and Kashmir and the state was brought under Governor’s rule.
