Hyderabad, The Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here on Tuesday seized over 1,200 grams of gold in the form of paste from a female Sudanese passenger.
Hyderabad Customs recovered 1,209 grams of gold valued at Rs 58.16 lakhs from the passenger, who arrived by flight EK 524 from Sudan via Dubai.
The gold was concealed in the undergarments and hand-baggage, an official said.
The customs department has booked a case of smuggling of gold against the passenger and took up further investigation.
This comes a day after the customs officials detected and seized 604.82 grams of gold valued at Rs 29.02 lakh in three separate cases.
In two of these cases, the gold was concealed in undergarments of the passengers while a third passenger had concealed it inside check-in baggage. Further investigations are on, the official said.
