Patna: After a video clip showing an MLA of Bihar’s ruling JD(U) dancing indecently with a scantily clad woman on stage went viral, the Opposition RJD targeted the chief minister Nitish Kumar leading to a war of words.
“Tikari MLA Abhay Kumar Sinha, who is a favourite of ‘man of morality’ Nitish Kumar, dancing to the tune of his conscience,” said RJD in a post on its official Twitter handle. The post also carried the video clip. The RJD’s use of the word ‘conscience’ is a reference to Nitish Kumar’s claim in July that he ditched Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party and walked out of the grand alliance on the call of his conscience.
The 43-second video clip shows Sinha, a first-time MLA, dancing with a scantily clad young woman on stage, making suggestive gestures and touching her bare skin occasionally.
“This is what is going on in the name of conscience, and they (JD-U) claim that their MLAs are devoted to ensuring good governance and development of Bihar,” RJD said.
When contacted, Abhay Kumar Sinha admitted that it is he who is seen dancing in the video clip, but lashed out at his political opponents for seeking mileage by using the video clip for the second time in two years.
“Yes, it is me in this video that is from 2013, and it was a mistake on my parts to dance like that. My political rivals had used this very video clip during 2015 Assembly polls to malign me in the eyes of voters and failed. Now they are doing the same thing again,” Sinha said.
He said the video was recorded at a dance party organised at the wedding of former JD(U) legislator Anil Kumar. “The programme was organised at Anil Kumar’s Hardinge Road residence in Patna. He later quit JD(U), joined HAM and contested against me in the 2015 polls,” said Sinha.
“Is RJD so devoid of issues that it is posting such videos on Twitter to gain people’s attention?” It is a party without a conscience and wants to turn Twitter into its dirty dancing platform,” said JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Sanjay Singh.
