BJP president Amit Shah who is in Bihar to meet JD(U) boss and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, launched a scathing attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday. Shah said the Narendra Modi-led BJP government gave a fitting reply Pakistan with surgical strikes but 'Rahul Baba' won't understand that matter because his alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav acquaints him only with the language of chara. Chara in Hindi means cattle-fodder. Shah was perhaps hinting at the infamous fodder scam under which Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted.
Shah said that Bihar has a rich history and was the first state from where the drive of Congress-mukt Bharat -- led by Jayaprakash Narayan -- had taken root. "Our karyakartas are still being killed in Kerala, Karnataka and West Bengal, but despite that our fight will continue," Shah added.
The victories should not stop us and the BJP will not rest until it wins Kerala, Karnataka, (West) Bengal, Odisha, and Telangana, Shah added.
"Rahul baba jagah-jagah ghumte hai aur poochte hai ki Modi ji ne ya kiya," said Shah, expressing disdain over Rahul Gandhi's questioning of the achievements of the Modi government. He slammed Rahul, adding that the Gandhi scion has no right to ask the BJP such questions as his own family has ruled the country for a long time. Shah said that BJP will give a detailed account of the last four years but first Rahul needs to give an account of the rule by Nehru, Indira, Rajeev Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
"Our mission is that every citizen gets a house by 2022 , every house gets electricity , but Rahul Baba what have you done in the last 55 years," Shah demanded of the Congress president. During the Congress rule India suffered frequent terror strikes, Shah recalled. But when Uri attack happened, the Modi govt replied through the surgical strike, said Shah.
Earlier, the BJP president met Nitish Kumar over breakfast at the state guest house in Patna. Shah will join Kumar again later in the day for dinner at the Chief Minister's residence after meeting BJP party workers and leaders during the day.
It is widely expected that the two NDA ally leaders will discuss seat-sharing for the 2019 general elections amid recent reports that the BJP-JD(U) coalition in Bihar has hit a rough patch.
