Opposition shed crocodile tears for farmers but stalled files on MSP, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Mirzapur as part of a two-day tour in eastern UP. He laid the foundation of Mirzapur Medical College and dedicated Bansagar canal project to the nation on Sunday. Yesterday, Modi laid the foundation stone for the 340-km long Purvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh. Modi is on a two-day visit to eastern Uttar Pradesh starting Saturday.

With an eye on 2019 elections, PM Modi gave a boost to eastern UP by announcing projects worth Rs 34,000 crore in the region.

The Bansagar Canal Project project, inaugurated by Modi on Sunday is expected to provide a big boost to irrigation in the region. The project is likely to benefit the farmers of Mirzapur and Allahabad districts.

Modi attacked the opposition for politicising the farmer issues and stalled raising MSP prices. Those indulging in politics in the name of farmers had no time to raise the prices of MSP (Minimum Support Price). They sat on files", Modi spoke at the rally. We are taking one step after the other to bridge the gap between the rich and poor. Its result will soon be out for everyone to see. The poor can now look you in the eyes, confidently, PM told the gathering at Mirzapur.

Previous governments used to come up with incomplete projects and stall them. You are the people who suffered through all of that. Had this project been completed beforehand, you would have been benefitted by it two decades back, PM Modi said about Bansagar canal project

Attacking previous UPA government, Modi said, those who are shedding crocodile tears for farmers today should be asked why did they not see irrigation projects which were left incomplete throughout the nation, during their (UPA) tenure.

Since the time BJP-NDA govt has come to power the development work in Purvanchal has accelerated and its results can be seen by everyone today, PM Narendra Modi in Mirzapur.
