West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee Saturday in Esplanade said the party will win all 42 seats in Lok Sabha in the Lok Sabha Elections 2018 from the state. She also said TMC will launch a campaign on August 15 – ‘BJP hatao, desh bachao’ (remove BJP, save country).
The TMC chief, while addressing a rally said the campaign will be a big blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bengal will show the path in the Lok Sabha elections.
She attacked the ruling government in New Delhi over the mob lynchings and said, “they are creating Talibanis among people”. “In BJP & RSS, there are good people whom I respect but some are playing dirty games,” Banerjee added.
The party observes July 21 as the Martyrs’ Day to pay homage to 13 Youth Congress workers, who were allegedly killed in police firing in 1993, when the Left Front was ruling the state.
The TMC supremo was the chief of the Youth Congress at that time. Before beginning the rally, Mamata took to Twitter, "Like every year, we are organising our annual #21JulyShahidDibas rally in Dharmatala.
“Our workers and supporters from across #Bengal and other States have come to the city. We welcome one and all. Dharmatala Chalo." Banerjee took a jibe at the BJP, who organised a farmers’ rally in Midnapore and was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a scathing attack, she said, “Those who can’t build pandal, want to build a country.”
Trinamool Congress Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said, “Nobody could silence her voice against the Centre's anti-people policies including demonetisation, price rise and attempts to snatch away the savings of common people. That is why she is considered as the most successful leader, not just in Bengal but across India.”
