Sanju box office collection day 31: Ranbir Kapoor starrer beats Salman Khan’s all-time best Tiger Zinda Hai

The Sanjay Dutt biopic titled Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor has beaten Salman Khan’s biggest box-office hit Tiger Zinda Hai. After 31 days at the box-office, the Rajkumar Hirani directed film has made a total of Rs 339.75 crore beaten Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai which had a lifetime run of Rs 339 crore at the domestic box-office. As per the domestic collection numbers, Sanju is now the third-highest grossing Hindi film after Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which made close to Rs 380 crore at the domestic box-office. While Baahubali 2 is the all-time top grosser (domestic) in Indian cinema at Rs 510 crore, however, it wasn't a Bollywood production and was only dubbed in HIndi, which is why we aren't including it in the top Bollywood grossers of all time.

This is a humongous achievement considering after Sanju’s release, Diljit Dosanjh starrer Soorma, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak and Sanjay Dutt starrer Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 has also hit theatres and yet Sanju was able to hold its ground and become the box-office giant as it has.

With less than a few lakh worth of box-office money left for it to overtake Aamir Khan’s PK, once it does, Sanju will become Rajkumar Hirani’s highest-grossing film ever directed by him. It has also become Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest hit ever. His highest-grossing film before Sanju was the Ayan Mukerji directed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), which made Rs 188 crore at the domestic box-office.

According to a tweet by film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Sanju made Rs 202.51 crore in its first week, Rs 92.67 crore in its second, Rs 31.62 crore in its third week, Rs 10.48 crore in its fourth week and finally Rs 2.47 crore in its fifth week. Just to give you perspective Diljit Dosanjh starrer Soorma has made only Rs 30.11 crore after three weeks at the box office.
