New Delhi: For a change, people all over the country may find strange way of celebrating Diwali this time around.
Yes, for the first time, both the ruling party and main Opposition Congress will be celebrating as Rahul Gandhi is going to take over as new party chief of the oldest party in the country. If Cong cadres feel they got ‘young’ leader to lead them, then the BJP’s jubilation borne out of their past victories, which solely contributed by a weak-knead Opposition led by the scion.
Speculation till yesterday, became reality with the Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday indicating that the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the party chief could be done “soon”.
“Soon it will be done,” she said, when asked by reporters repeatedly as to when Rahul Gandhi, who is at present the vice president of the party, will be elevated.
The Congress organisational polls are underway and many state units have already passed resolutions urging Rahul Gandhi to take over as the party reins.
Sources in the party say that Rahul could take over as the party chief from her mother after Diwali.
