Amid the outpouring grief in the state, one scene of brothers Alagiri and MK Stalin embracing each other as they mourned the death of their father stood out. This incident has sparked hopes that brothers Alagiri and Stalin might patch up and Alagiri sparked the family feud wide open in the public by stating that he is having the support of DMK cadre and warned that the party will be digging its own grave, if he is not taken into the party. Alagiri is not in DMK as he was suspended from the DMK by his father Karunanidhi in the past.
