Trouble is brewing in another political family in Bihar as Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) President Ram Vilas Paswan’s daughter and son-in-law have announced to contest the polls against him, if given a ticket by “chacha” Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Paswan’s daughter Asha has accused her father of favouritism saying he has only promoted his son Chirag, who is an MP and LJP’s Parliamentary Party Leader. “If given a chance, I am ready for a head on fight with him,” said Asha, and added that both of Lalu chacha’s sons Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav were like brothers to her.
Asha is Paswan’s daughter from his first wife Raj Kumari Devi, who he divorced before marrying Reena Paswan, mother of Chirag, in 1983. Asha’s husband Anil Kumar Sadhu, was formerly the state president of Dalit Sena, a wing of the LJP and had unsuccessfully contested from Bochaha (reserved) seat in 2015 Assembly election. Earlier in 2010 too, he lost to JD(U)’s Arun Manjhi in Masaurhi constituency. A source said Sadhu was disgruntled with the LJP since his defeat in 2015 and switched over to the RJD earlier this year.
“Not just me, many party workers and leaders were not happy with Chirag and his dictatorial attitude. Respected Ram Vilas ji is entangled in his son’s love. But his party rank and file is not happy and they are quitting to join other political parties,” Sadhu said, when asked about his reasons to leave his father-in-law’s party.
