"He heard what I had to say and assured help. I had earlier also said that I have faith in our state government and today that faith has strengthened", said Kalpana Tiwari.
Vivek Tiwari was shot by a UP cop early on Saturday morning after he allegedly refused to stop his car. Vivek was returning home from work. He was accompanied by a woman colleague. He was asked to stop by two policemen. When Vivek refused to stop, one of the cops shot him.
He was immediately taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The postmortem report also confirmed that Vivek was shot on his chin.
The UP government has assured the family of fast track proceedings in the case. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also constituted to probe Tiwari's death.
Meanwhile, UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma who accompanied the family members during the meeting said that the government will make all necessary steps to ensure security to the family members of Vivek Tiwary. "Wife of Vivek Tiwary, Kalpana Tiwary will be provided a government job to support her family. In addition to this government will provide the family Rs 25 lakh compensation and fixed deposit worth Rs 5 lakh each in the name of her two children", Dinesh Sharma said.
Earlier on Sunday, UP ministers Brajesh Pathak and Ashutosh Tandon arrived at Tiwari's funeral to meet his family. Brajesh Thakur assured the family of all possible help from the government's side. The minister also said that the murderers will not be spared.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya also met Kalpana Tiwari on Sunday afternoon and assured her of all possible help from the government.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal spoke to Kalpana Tiwari over the phone and assured of all possible help.
Kalpana had earlier said that the Rs 25 lakh compensation as promised by the government was not enough for her family. She said that Vivek was the only earning member of the family and she is worried about the future of her kids. She had demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, the oppositio left no stones unturned in attacking the Yogi government over Vivek Tiwary's murder. Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over the killing. He termed the incident a 'unfortunate'and asked what else people expect from the BJP government in UP. “Unfortunate, can’t imagine such an incident, but what else will you expect from BJP Govt in UP, there have been numerous fake encounters under this Govt,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
The Opposition parties have demanded Yogi Adityanath’s resignation over the matter. “Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, who is presently in Madhya Pradesh, has termed the killing a result of the prevailing ‘jungle raj’ and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi,” Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said.
He added that language of the Chief Minister, who advocates encounters, has been haughty and this has led to the audacity among the policemen.
Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal also took to Twitter and attacked BJP over the incident. He asked why Vivek was killed even though he was a Hindu. Kejriwal urged people to realise that BJP is not working for the Hindus of the country.
